Collection: Jérôme Coessens
Jérôme Coessens took over the family estate of 3.36 hectares in Ville-sur-Arce in the Côte des Bar in 2006. He carries out a unique work in Champagne: a single climat Largillier , a monopole belonging to the Coessens family, a single grape variety Pinot Noir and a single year with the exception of the solera wine.
Largillier is a vein of land belonging to the Kimmeridgian marl n°2: the soil, the subsoil and even the exposure resemble in every detail the Grands Crus of Chablis and Corton.
This soil is an alternation of clay beds, giving structure and substance to the attack on the palate, and limestone beds where the roots of the vines draw their minerality, bringing length on the palate and a refreshing finish.
After a few years of winemaking, Jérôme realized that he consistently produced four types of wines within the Largillier monopole, from 4 sub-plots which he named from a taste perspective: MINERAL, FRUIT, FLOWER & MATTER.
