Phelan Farm

Passionate about Burgundy and Jura wines, Rajat partnered with Sandhi Wines and Domaine de la Côte vineyards in California. His dream of crafting his own wines came true when he acquired Phelan Farm in 2019. Nestled north of Santa Barbara in Cambria , between the ocean and the mountains, its cool climate is reminiscent of the Jura region. Rajat 's love for Jura wines often resonates with Jacques Maillet , and in homage, he named his first vintages " Autrement " (Otherwise). The Jura region made its way to California when Rajat decided to graft cuttings of Poulsard, Trousseau, Savagnin, Jacquère, Gringet , directly from the finest estates in the Jura and Savoie regions, including Tissot, Chevillard, Belluard, Maillet ... onto his vines. In the vineyards, as in the cellar, life reigns: "nothing is added, nothing is taken away," no sulfur, no copper, just treatments based on local plants to develop the natural defenses of the vines.
