Francois Rousset Martin: A legendary terroir

François Rousset Martin is one of the most talented winemakers in the Jura. At the height of his powers, he reaps the rewards of years of observation and patience. His Savagnin wines share a common thread: their captivating aromatic complexity, their purity, and their saline finish that provides great freshness.

Precise and meticulous, François respects the identity of each of the plots scattered throughout the legendary terroir of Château Chalon. His Burgundian roots influence his aging methods, which are mostly carried out in topped-up barrels without a veil of yeast.

From all of his vintages, we have selected those that embody his unique style.

Grandma Marie
Grandma Marie
This cuvée is the perfect marriage of the fruitiness of Chardonnay (80%) and the herbaceous and dried fruit notes of Savagnin (20%). Aging potential: 2 to 3 years.

Saint Peter's Well Saint Peter's Well

This cuvée is a Savagnin from a plot shaped like an amphitheater on grey marl soil. It is an elegant, refined wine with good body, developing aromas of candied lemon that evolve towards gentian and sage, with a slightly earthy note, walnut, and a hint of milk caramel. It has excellent aging potential (20 years).

Vigne aux Dames

Château Chalon, V8

This is a wine that has aged for eight years under a veil of yeast, François' signature cuvée, of great complexity and, in a way, very much in the Burgundian style. Drink it now or forever!
