Collection: Christian Rouchier
South of the Saint-Joseph appellation, on the granite slopes of Saint-Jean-de-Muzols, Christian Rouchier cultivates a tiny vineyard—barely 2.5 to 3 hectares. A negligible area on the scale of the Rhône Valley, but one that is enough to keep him fully occupied as every row is worked like a garden.
Here, the vines are not managed as an intensive crop.
They are nurtured.
The soils are worked by horse.
Only the grape, the place, and time.
The wines are aged in old barrels, seasoned by the vintages, to allow the wine to breathe without imposing a woody imprint.
The resulting wines have something rare today in the Rhône Valley:
a vertical, earthy, spicy Syrah, deeply connected to its landscape.
