In Pupillin, the geology changes its appearance.

Where much of the Jura region rests on Jurassic gray marl, faults have brought much older marl to the surface. Triassic marl. Iridescent with shades of gray, green, and pink, it covers nearly sixty percent of the village.

It shapes the wines and explains why Pupillin has long been the chosen land for Ploussard.

The Benoît family has been cultivating vines for four generations. For decades, the grapes were delivered to the cooperative. In 2003, Denis Benoît decided to change course. He created Cellier Saint Benoît in the old family farmhouse and took back control of all winemaking.

In 2019, Benjamin took over the estate at just twenty-three years old, after the sudden passing of his father. Trained in Beaune, then with Charles Lachaux, Nicolas Faure, and Amélie Berthaut, he produced his first vintage in 2020 with a very clear idea already: to let each place speak before style.

The estate today covers only 6.25 hectares, spread over twelve plots and the five historic grape varieties of the Jura. A plot-by-plot approach still uncommon in Pupillin, which allows each wine to precisely convey the identity of its terroir.
