On the plateau overlooking the Côte de Feule, at nearly 400 metres above sea level, Fonteneille comes from clay and silt soils overlying gryphaea limestone. A terroir that gives Trousseau greater depth without sacrificing its natural energy.
The grapes are vinified as whole bunches before being aged for nine months, partly in tank and partly in seasoned barrels, in order to preserve the expression of both the vintage and the site.
The nose opens with black cherry, wild berries and a delicate herbal touch that brings freshness. The palate is slender and gradually gains volume with air, before stretching out over particularly fine tannins. A slight bitterness on the finish extends the wine with great precision and beautiful persistence.
