Les Gras d'Huile is undoubtedly the cuvée that provides the most direct entry into Maxime Oudiette's world.
This plot, planted between 1993 and 2004 in Beaunay, rests on a succession of lignite clay layers, dense Thanetian chalk, and marl. A complex geology that gives the wine its relief as much as its tension.
The 2021 base (79%) is complemented by the perpetual reserve from the plot, initiated in 2015. The whole is aged for eleven months in barrels on lees, without racking, to preserve all the precision of the terroir.
The nose opens with great delicacy on small citrus fruits, white flowers, and a fine chalky note.
On the palate, the wine surprises with its amplitude. The texture remains perfectly held by a lively acidity and a noble bitterness that prolongs the finish with a remarkable sensation of freshness.
An already very expressive champagne, whose balance and energy suggest a very promising evolution in the cellar.
