Trousseau has found a new landscape for expression in Cambria.
Originally from the Jura region, this delicate grape variety reveals another facet of its personality here. Under the influence of the Pacific, it retains all its natural freshness while gaining a depth of fruit unique to California. The result is neither a copy of the great Jura trousseaux nor a stylistic exercise, but the expression of a singular place.
The nose opens with morello cherry, wild raspberry, and pomegranate, quickly joined by notes of white pepper, dried rose, and Mediterranean herbs. Upon aeration, a subtle mineral and saline dimension recalls the constant proximity of the ocean.
The palate impresses with its delicacy. The texture is fine, almost airy, carried by a precise acidity that extends the wine without ever making it austere. The very soft tannins accompany a long, luminous, and intensely mouth-watering finish.
With this cuvée, Rajat Parr demonstrates that trousseau has a future far beyond its Jura birthplace. A red of finesse, movement, and balance, profoundly Californian in its identity.
