La Chave is the heart of the estate. An old Syrah vine planted in 1958 on the granite hillsides of Saint-Jean-de-Muzols, whose grapes produce Christian Rouchier's most profound cuvée. Although this plot historically belonged to the Saint-Joseph appellation area, it is now marketed as Vin de France following a revision of its classification.
The 2023 vintage reveals a Syrah of remarkable finesse. The nose combines fresh black fruits, violet, black pepper, sweet spices, and a mineral signature evoking hot stone and graphite.
The palate impresses with its balance. The texture is dense without ever being heavy, supported by highly delicate tannins and a freshness that naturally prolongs the tasting experience. The granite expresses itself precisely, right through to a long, saline, and slightly smoky finish.
A great northern Syrah, where depth is born from finesse rather than power. A bottle that reminds us how the most beautiful granite hillsides of Saint-Jean-de-Muzols can produce wines of exceptional elegance.
