Barbe Fleurie is a departure for François Rousset-Martin.
For this cuvée, the Jura winemaker leaves the marls of Château-Chalon to join Poncié, one of Fleurie's historic lieux-dits. A small parcel of Gamay rooted in the pink granites of Beaujolais, where the grape finds a remarkable balance between finesse, energy, and depth.
The winemaking remains true to the estate's philosophy. Half of the harvest is kept in whole clusters to provide relief and length, before aging in Burgundian pièces and demi-muids already seasoned by several vintages. Without fining, filtration, or added sulfur, the wine retains all the precision of its origin.
Barbe Fleurie 2024 opens with bright red fruit, accompanied by floral notes, fine spices, and a mineral touch reminiscent of Poncié's granite. The palate is supple, slender, with great fluidity, carried by a freshness that prolongs the tasting.
A Fleurie interpretation by François Rousset-Martin: precise, delicate, and deeply rooted in its origin.
