Croix Sarrant is a reminder that the greatness of a terroir does not always depend on the age of its vines.
Planted in 2014 on a slope in Château-Chalon, this young vineyard already reveals a striking personality. François Rousset-Martin approaches the Chardonnay with the same exacting standards as his historic cuvées: spontaneous fermentations, extended topped-up ageing and absolute confidence in the site’s ability to speak for itself.
The 2022 vintage immediately shows a sunnier character than Mes Six Terroirs. The fruit is more generous, the texture broader, yet never heavy. Ripe citrus, fresh hazelnut and white fruit unfold across a luminous palate, driven by incisive acidity that gives the wine tremendous momentum.
Croix Sarrant gives the impression of a terroir already learning to find its voice. A cuvée of remarkable maturity, where energy still comes before power.
