With RieRie, Maylis Bernard allows herself an escape outside the Jura without ever abandoning her philosophy. The grapes come from the hillsides of Obernai, in Alsace, but the interpretation of the wine is resolutely that of Zéroïne: a discreet winemaking process, where every decision aims to preserve the identity of the grape rather than to shape it.
After direct pressing and light settling, the juices ferment naturally in 14-hectoliter foudres before continuing to age there for two years, punctuated by regular topping-up every two weeks. This long period brings a serene depth without ever masking the frankness of the Riesling.
RieRie unfurls a bouquet of ripe citrus, yellow apple, white flowers, and wet stone. The palate is ample but always carried by a luminous tension. The aging stretches the wine, bringing it relief and a delicately enveloping texture, while the finish regains that salinity and energy that immediately invite another sip. A free, precise Riesling, where Alsace meets Maylis Bernard's Jurassian sensibility.
